Are introverts more likely to fail at public speaking?

An article recently released on the Huffington Post website has dispelled the myth that introverts are more likely to suffer with anxiety when it comes to public speaking. In today’s video, we ask the question, is introversion a cause of public speaking anxiety?

It has been suggested that we are wrong to think that public speaking is an act of extraversion, and that all introverts will be nervous when presenting. Suggestions are made that studies have revealed that 84% of public speaking anxiety is completely unrelated to whether a person is an introvert or an extravert and instead, is more dependant on whether an individual is likely to feel anxiety in general.

Experts have suggested that presenting has nothing to do with extraversion but instead is a performance.

We asked Andy Harrington, a public speaking expert, for his thoughts on whether introversion impacts public speaking anxiety. His comments are included within the video itself.
