John F. Kennedy was a great public speaker because he had mastered the two main ingredients to a good speech;
the first was that he was a remarkable orator, and the second was that his speeches were well written. One really can’t have one without the other.
John F Kennedy had Ted Sorensen to assist in the crafting of speeches such as his inaugural address that really introduced Kennedy to the world.
Kennedy was a master at the use of contrasts, three-part lists, alliteration, and bold imagery, all common techniques employed in speech making.
Kennedy made speech making an art form and this is why many of his speeches are so memorable even more than 50 years after his death.
